Peg Thompson has been in ministry for over 30 years. She has served as a church musician in a variety of roles including organist, choir director, hand bell director, and children’s music director. She has also worked in a church office for some of those years. Peg joined the staff of First Church in August 2015. In addition, Peg also currently serves as Music Director and Organist at Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Alabaster. She is married to Gary Smoke who is organist at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church and does various freelance music activities, mostly as a composer and arranger. When she is not at work, Peg enjoys being a singer/songwriter. Peg lived in Tuscaloosa for thirty years, so she obviously roots for the Alabama Crimson Tide. She enjoys vacationing anywhere on the coast of California. Peg loves that First Church is an historic, downtown church.
