Jonathan Goss Associate Pastor
Jonathan Goss has been in ministry since the early 2000s. He served in a number of different roles during his time at the University of Georgia as a part of the Wesley Foundation, Epworth by the Sea in St. Simons, Georgia, and as a part of the South Georgia Conference Leadership Team. He came on staff as youth director at First Church in 2006. Jonathan is married to Dr. Amy Goss who has a Ph.D. in Nutrition Science and conducts research and teaches at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. They have a Bernese Mountain Dog named Sasha that they spoil rotten! When he is not at work Jonathan enjoys playing with his dog, discussing theology, watching college football and basketball, playing Frisbee golf, working out, playing Fantasy Football, and eating good food. His favorite college team is the University of Georgia Bulldogs. Jonathan enjoys vacationing at the beach. His favorite part of First Church is our ability and willingness to welcome ALL in a loving and warm manner.
Katie Gilbert Executive Pastor
Katie Gilbert has been in full time ministry since coming on staff at First Church in May 2010, however, she has been working and serving in local church congregations for most of her life. Katie is married to Rev. Matt Lacey, Executive Director for United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. They have two daughters, Harper, born in April 2015 and Emery, born in February 2020, in addition to one crazy Boston Terrier named Lennon. As a graduate of Baylor University, Katie cheers exclusively for the Baylor Bears. Sic ‘em! When she’s not working, Katie enjoys exercising, practicing yoga, gardening, and traveling the world! Her favorite vacation destination is anywhere she hasn’t been before—a few of her favorite vacations so far have been to Japan, New Zealand, and South Africa. Her favorite part of First Church is that ALL are welcomed and loved here.
